I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but moved to Oregon I was 3 years old. I have spent all my life in Oregon until recently I moved to Colorado. I graduated from University of Oregon, GO DUCKS! And now have begun this Master's program in hopes to teach elemenatry students. I currently have moved to Aspen, Coloraro. My husband and I decided that one we wanted to go on a little adventure and decided that pack up the car with our two dogs and headed for Colorado with no home and no jobs. It was pretty scary but a completly fun adventure. We both landed jobs at Aspen/Snowmass mountain and absoultly love it here. This has honestly been the best experience of my life and I am so happy we took the risk. Although we love it here, I will be returning back to Oregon once I get my teaching license to teach in Oregon.
I am planing on teaching elementary students and am hoping for 1st or 2nd grade classrooms but of course won't be picky if it comes to other grades. I found out I wanted to be a teacher because I took an education class at U of O and realized that teaching would be something I was interested in doing. Because of my struggles in school, it made me want to become a teacher and help those get through school. It sounds weird that because I struggled in school is the reason why I wanted to become a teacher but really I just want to help those who struggle with school and help them succeed and give all my students a great learning experience.
I have been married to the my best friend for about a year now. We got married in Hawaii on the beach on August 24th of last year. We have two dogs a siberian husky and a golden retriever. We love to the outdoors and just love to be on the go. We are happy living in Colorado and enjoy snowboarding as much as we can. I'm excited to start this online program and can't wait to finally become an elementary teacher.
Thanks for sharing, and you certainly are on a great adventure. Living and skiing in Colorado sounds so fun. And congrats on marrying your 'best friend.' My wife and I (42 yrs) can happily state the same thing.
